If you think bigger is better Then you might want to think again Cos if less is more, you can’t ignore That small gets ten out of ten Did you know the world around us Is much more than one big thing? It’s a lot of little things joined up together That make me want to sing Appreciate the small things, the small things Appreciate the small Appreciate the small things, the small things Appreciate them all Well, it it’s not the size that matters Does matter have a size at all? It gets less and less ‘til nothing’s left Like a set of stacking dolls From all the tiny little critters To all the good deeds you have done They add up to something bigger And then you get the whole in one So appreciate the small things, the small things Appreciate the small Just appreciate the small things, the small things Appreciate them all Granules of sand make up the beach Beetles and ants, there’s more than one each Think of the littlest thing you can fathom Is it a molecule or an atom or maybe a quark? What the…!? Appreciate the small things, the small things Appreciate the small Just appreciate the small things, the small things Appreciate them all You don’t need a billion dollars and a Lamborghini or twenty-million followers in bikinis Appreciate the small things, the small things

We’re all entangled together In one living community Micro Biome You’re a key to my survival From the deep dark of my insides To my ocean of saliva Microorganisms All over my system I’ve got a suspicion That we’re one and the same Oh, Micro Biome What have you done to me? Micro biome This might sound kind of insane Yeah well, maybe I’m crazy But it’s like you’re some kind of giant brain Oh, micro biome I don’t know if we’re one or a hundred trillion and two Cos you just make up my whole world So I gotta be good to you Microorganisms All over my system I’ve got a suspicion That we’re one and the same We’re one and the same Yeah, we’re one and the same Oh, we’re one and the same We’re one and the same Micro Biome Micro Biome Micro Biome Your-cro Biome Our-cro Biome Macro Biome Micro Biome Micro Biome Micro Biome

I love carrots in the morning I love carrots in the eve I love carrots in a salad or a sandwich I love carrots from their roots to their leaves Well, I love carrots that are homegrown Cos they are oh so crunchy sweet Well, I love carrots, but do you? Yeah, I love carrots! They’re just so, so good to eat Well there’s red carrots, yellow carrots, purple carrots, orange I find wild carrots when I’m going for a forage Fresh, baked, steamed, mashed or grated on my porridge I love carrots, hey! Well I love carrots that are stumpy, Twisty, fat or thin or long What can I say? I love carrots! So do I, I love carrots! Well, why don’t we play a carrot in this song? Hey, check it out, he’s playing a carrot! Yep, that’s a carrot!

There’s a whole world down there Down where? I’ll tell you where Right under your feet where the land and plants meet It’s the Soil Food Web and it’s a bangin’ good time Come on down underground and meet some friends of mine I’m flatulent, I mean, a flagellate! I've got this whippy tail, can you imagine it? I got a motion promotion in the primordial ocean To get me swimmin around, now I’m smashing it! I’m Amoeba, I’m a-you-ba A shapeshifter Look, I’m a tuba! I slip around like a blob doing my job And sometimes I’m slime-mould with the mob I’m the Arch-Nemetode, you get bad rap When you’re nothin but a tube that moves and unattractive Not a villain, just a bit of killin’ with four hundred quintillion siblings What’s wrong with that? Fungus saprophyte And Bacteria’s back, alright! They be eating and breeding and moving dancing and creeping It’s like a party going on right under your nose If you know some folks with a microscope Get ‘em to show you the ropes and check the life below It’s the soil food web What? Get it in your head And your garden bed Alright! The soil food web Huh? That’s what I said And it’s how we’re fed Come and take a ride on the nutrient cycle It’s always breaking down, but that’s what it’s like yo! It’s kind of the point! If it didn’t pretty soon We’d have junk piled up all the way to the moon! Don’t let anyone tell you that compost ain’t boss Without it life would stop Like, actually So cover the soil with mulch, shade and plants And discover the joy of the soil food web dance It’s the soil food web What? Get it in your head And your garden bed Alright! The soil food web Huh? That’s what I said And it’s how we’re fed

Would the ocean be embarrassed Every time the sea weed? I don’t think she feels that callous Toward the likes of me Well, let me introduce myself I’m hangin off the continental shelf Just come on down when you sea kelp And ask for Al G I pump out more air than the trees And filter all the scum Some say I’m the reason there’s life on Earth Well, you’re welcome Now. the whales keep on beaching That’s no place for a large water mammal And the coral keeps on bleaching Well, the fish don’t like it when the colour’s too mellow But I’ll just keep on preaching the goodness of Al G I’m talking bout the Original Green Al G Keeping the water and the airways clean Al G, that’s me He’s the Original Green Al G The O.G. is the Al G The Al G is the O.G

Remember me, Earthworm Bill? I ate your lunch when you’d had your fill And put it back in the ground, that is my skill To help your garden grow Mmm, hey, Earthworm Bill, Earthworm Bill Remember me when you have a spill Earthworm Bill, Earthworm Bill I help your garden grow Just keep me damp and keep me cool Leave me in the dark with your scraps for fuel And I will be the sharpest tool To help your garden grow Yeah, I’m Earthworm Bill, hey! Earthworm Bill I eat all day while I dig and till Earthworm Bill, Earthworm Bill I help your garden grow I have five hearts, so I got all the love But I keep it down underground, not above Playing games of push and shove To Help your garden grow I’m Earthworm Bill, hey! Earthworm Bill Helping the soil really gives me a thrill Earthworm Bill, that’s me! Earthworm Bill I help your garden grow Yeah I help your garden grow Ooh, I help your garden grow

‘Micro Biome’ is the latest album from award-winning ecological funk/swing outfit Formidable Vegetable celebrating the small things that make up our Living World that we just couldn’t survive without. People often go on about how great big things are, but sometimes we forget to give a shout-out to the little things that help them to exist in the first place!

Featuring a six-dimensional, Spoonbill-boosted orchestra’s worth of instruments from trumpet, trombone, saxophone and clarinet to violins, electric guitar and a slew of synthesisers, Formidable Vegetable has gone to the next level with this album to create a whole World of sound celebrating all of the little parts that make up the whole.

With funk tunes about micro-organisms, seaweed and bees to the most wholesome dirty hip-hop you've ever heard and even a 90’s pop anthem celebrating food, Micro Biome is all-new Formidable Vegetable like you've never heard before, including celebrity cameos from Costa Georgiadis to Linsey Pollak playing an actual carrot!

With their commitment to creating bangin' family tunes that both kids and adults can get down to, the band's super-producer Spoonbill has forensically squeegeed every nook and cranny of the sonic spectrum to make it glisten and shine all the way into your earholes and down to your gut flora.
